Difference between Hijri and Gregorian Age

Many people are surprised to know that their Islamic (Hijri) age is not the same as their Gregorian age. This is because the Hijri calendar is lunar-based, while the Gregorian calendar is solar-based.

Hijri Calendar

The Hijri calendar has 354 or 355 days. It is used by Muslims around the world to determine important events like Ramadan, Hajj, and Eid.

Gregorian Calendar

The Gregorian calendar has 365 or 366 days and is followed internationally for daily life, business, and education.

The Age Difference

Because the Hijri year is shorter, your Hijri age will always be slightly older than your Gregorian age. For example, if you are 30 years old in the Gregorian calendar, you may be around 31 years old in the Hijri calendar.
